(Srila Prabhupada crossed the Atlantc Ocean in 1965 on the cargo ship Jaladuta to spread Krishna Consciousness.)

August 12, 1965

One day prior to the departure of the Jaladuta, the following newspaper article appeared in the Dainik Basumati, a Bengali newspaper in Calcutta.

A translation of the article is as follows:

The Lord's Message Goes to America

Lord Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, prthivite ache yata nagaradi grama, sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama. That prophecy is going to be fulfilled now!

Srimat Bhaktivedanta Swami, a resident of Vrndavana, has translated the Srimad-Bhagavatam into English in sixty volumes with word-for-word meaning and purports. Before this great work could be appreciated by his countrymen, people from far off America have expressed their admiration of this supernormal achievement and have invited him so that they may meet him in person and acquaint themselves with his work.

Hence, he is departing from Calcutta for New York this 12th day of August.
